The BlueDuct® Gains NSF P374 certification for R-10 equivalent thermal performance

The BlueDuct®, from AQC Industries, is the first underground air duct system to receive NSF P374 certification for R-10 equivalent thermal efficiency. NSF P374 protocol, developed by NSF International, is the direct measure of thermal efficiency performance for all underground air duct systems. It is an accurate, direct measurement of thermal performance that compares the temperature difference of air flowing in and out of an air duct buried underground.

“The NSF protocol is the only method of measuring the true thermal efficiency of underground air ducts. The BlueDuct® has made a marked commitment to prove its energy efficiency by testing to the limits of the protocol,” said Dave Purkiss, general manager, NSF International.

The NSF P347 testing protocol consists of two air ducts buried side by side in trenches. One side is the test air duct—the other is the control duct. The control duct consists of a traditional installation of buried PVC-coated spiral sheet metal air duct surrounded on four sides with R-10 equivalent (ASTM C518) board insulation. The temperature of air flowing through the test and control ducts is measured and compared. Based on the test results, NSF has determined and certified that The BlueDuct has equivalent thermal performance to traditional R-10 equivalent insulated, PVC-coated spiral sheet metal air duct.
