Displacement Ventilation Drastically Improves Indoor Air Quality

The BlueDuct® Improves IAQ On Your Displacement Ventilation Projects

Displacement ventilation is the ideal solution for greater Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for many office spaces, schools, as well as commercial buildings. One of our representatives, Buckley Assocaiates Inc., used BlueDuct for several underground duct applications.

In contrast to traditional mixed-flow ventilation systems, displacement ventilation (DV) relies on a stratification concept to consolidate heat for direct removal at the top of a space. DV supplies air at low velocities from several floor diffusers. Subsequently, the cool supply air floods the floor.  As it warms by internal sources, it rises. Furthermore, as the heat sources within the room lift the air, it flushes through the occupied zone. Then, it consolidates at the top of the space for extraction. Finally, since the air does not re-enter the occupied space, the result is greater IAQ.

🔵 Compressor Energy Savings – 65 degree supply air for DV vs. 55 degree supply air temperature

🔵 Expanded Airside Economizer range – Additional opportunity to economize with 65 degree supply air

🔵 20% better indoor air quality – Ventilation effectiveness ratio of 1.2 vs. 1.0 for mixing ventilation

🔵 Better Acoustics – Reduce sound levels by NC factor of

Note the image below, as it compares the advantages of using Displacement Ventilation over traditional mixing ventilation. Duct leakage, heat loss/gain, as well as space savings, are a few of the many benefits your customers will capitalize on to improve efficiency.
